Exclusive Sneak Peek: Jay Z and Mary J Blige "You're Welcome"

Lil Wayne admits he has an Addiction.... It's about Time

Lil Wayne commented on his current addiction to syrup a combination made up of promethazine and codeine that originated in the South peep this:

“But I’m going through that same sh– with my friends, with my mom. Everybody wants me to stop all this and all that. It ain’t that easy. Do your history, do your research. It ain’t that easy — feels like death in your stomach when you stop doing that sh–. You gotta learn how to stop, you gotta go through detox. You gotta do all kinds of stuff. Like I said, I’m a selfish-ass n—a. I feel like everything I do is successful and productive. It’s gonna be hard to tell me I’m slipping. It’s hard to sit and tell a n—a ‘Stop.’ ‘F—, how can we tell this n—a to stop when every f—ing thing he do is successful? This n—a is making progress. He just went and talked to kids and that sh– was amazing.’ Feel me? So what am I doing wrong?

“Let me do me. Everybody’s got their thing. Why focus on me? Don’t compare me to no one. Don’t compare me to no one who has passed, and why they passed. I can walk out this b—h right now and get hit by a bus. Don’t judge me. You wanna judge me, put on a black gown and get a gavel. Get in line with the rest of them that’s about to judge me. I got court dates every other month. It’s me against the world — that’s how I feel.”

Damn at least he was honest! Now if we can only get him to admit to ecstasy and cocaine we'd be on a roll!

Jay Speaks on Def Jam.... We're Good!

Peep what Jay had to say about his peeps over at Def Jam:

“It wasn’t a hostile thing. I was with L.A. last night. We still gonna continue to work on [projects], just not [with me] as the president of Def Jam. But everything is sweet. I got so many different options. I wanna continue to push the envelope, represent the culture well. Make the people proud. The next thing is gonna involve a little bit of everything. It has to involve music, ’cause I love music.

“But I have so many other skills as an entrepreneur I can add to that. Even with the decline in CD sales, music [consumption] is at an all-time high. … People still love music as much as ever. I’m trying to help other artists figure that out so you can make beautiful music and you don’t have to pay your bills with your CDs. You’re making money in so many other places. I’m just trying to figure that out.”

Good cover up as a buisness man but deep down inside you know you gonna miss that title STOP FRONTIN!

50 Cent Says Obama Might Get Killed

Dr. Boyce Watkins
www.BoyceWatkins.com

When 50 Cent says something, most of us don’t listen. As a hip hop fan, I don’t even listen to his music anymore, since it has gotten extraordinarily whack. But when a Nobel Prize Winner agrees with him, that makes you do a double-take.

When asked why he supports Senator Hillary Clinton, 50 Cent (I referred to him as “Fiddy” when we discussed him on CNN and BET) had this to say: “I don’t think America’s ready to have a black president. I think they might kill him.”

“Fiddy” is no stranger to assassination. He was shot 9 times in one outing, and to his credit, he was able to walk away. As some of my friends in hip hop would say, “That’s gangsta.” But 50 Cent’s presumption that Obama should not be supported because he might get killed came off a little silly. Most of us just laughed, since 50 Cent is not exactly known for political punditry.

But “Fiddy” was not alone. Nobel Prize Winner Doris Lessing, who seems to be pretty hardcore herself, was also rapping about the idea that Barack Obama may not last in the White House.

Lessing felt that Obama “would certainly not last long, a black man in the position of president. They would murder him,” said the 88 year old British author.

Wow, 50 Cent is now speaking in lip synch with Nobel Prize Winners. That’s uhhhh….interesting. It also appears, ironically, that 50 Cent was the visionary in all this analysis, since he said it first. That’s as scary as Rush Limbaugh, a high school graduate and recovering drug addict, becoming the intellectual leader of the Conservative Republicans. But given the depth of conservative Republican arguments, that is hardly surprising.

I have admittedly defended 50 Cent in multiple venues and I don’t regret one word of it. I consider him to be a different kind of genius, the kind that is able to come out of a house full of drug abusers and addicts and still make a Vitamin Water Deal that netted him half a billion dollars. Most of us would not be able to accomplish that, especially after getting shot 9 times.

But I must take “Fiddy” and Ms. Lessing to task on their joint speculation.
Obama could be shot, I agree. After all, he patterns himself after John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, both of whom are six feet under as we speak. But the notion that this additional risk implies that Mr. Obama should back off the White House excludes one critical fact: This history-making run for the White House is not about Barack Obama.

The Barack Obama movement is not about one man. He is deservedly considered to be the leader who reminded us of a greater purpose. However, a movement of this magnitude is NEVER about one person. It is about the millions here and abroad whose lives will be impacted if Obama gets to the White House and does the right thing.
Notice that I used the word “if”.

I agree with my friends Marc Lamont Hill and Roland Martin, who seem to feel that none of us knows what Obama is going to do until he has done it. Anyone who follows politics knows that a politician can tell a lie and the truth at the same time, all while eating a slice of pizza. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are master politicians and neither would be successful at their craft if they were not.

But to give Obama the benefit of the doubt, the truth is that he has sparked a political forest fire. The fire is burning with hope, passion, dreams and desires of a country that is ready for something better. One undeniable truth is that the fire is much bigger than the match that started it. King and Kennedy realized this, and so does Barack Obama.

50 Cent, in his blinged out world, may not have thought about these issues and I forgive him for not being hip to what’s going on. But as they say in hip hop, “If you don’t know, then act like you know”. “Fiddy” and Lessing have now been educated.

Dr. Boyce Watkins is a finance professor at Syracuse University and author of “What if George Bush were a Black Man?” He does regular work in national media, including CNN, FOX, ESPN, CBS and BET.

Jay Z Didn't Want to go to Def Jam Offices... Who He Think He Is?

After his brisk leave from Def Jam sources are saying that jay is in the works with Warner Music Group to start a new label called Aaron Carter. Peep this via NY Daily:

Now we hear Jay has been huddling with Reid’s rival, Warner Music Group head Lyor Cohen, to talk about starting his own label - tentatively called the Carter Music Group. (Jay’s real name is Aaron Carter.)

“The reason Jay left Def Jam was less about money than about freedom. He didn’t want to come to the office every day. And he had so many outside projects - his chain of 40/40 clubs and the hotel he’s building in Chelsea. But he wouldn’t mind having a small label for the talent he discovers. He might just put out three or four records a year. He’d let somebody else do the heavy lifting.”

Now that's how you bounce back Jay, not that he needed any help lol!

Pimp C Death Caused by Cough Syrup

Pimp C, a high-powered artist that was part of the group UGK, was found to have died from an overdose of over the counter cough medicine, according to the LA County coroner.

Pimp C, whose real name was Chad Butler, was found dead on December 4, but it took two months to determine his cause of death. The coroner's report stated that the death was "due to promethazine/codeine effects and other unestablished factors."

Ed Winter, the Assistant Chief of the Coroner's office, said that the levels of the medication were high, but not high enough for an overdose. However, the high levels of cough medicine, mixed with Butler's sleep apnea, created the deadly combination.

Pimp C was part of the hot hip-hop team UGK, along with rap artist Bun B. The group hit #1 with their last release "Underground Kingz."

Pimp C's cause of death led to some controversy after UGK recorded "Sippin on some Sizzurp", which some connect with cough syrup. The rap lyrics included one controversial line: "I'm choking on that doja sweet and sipping on that sizz-erp."

The medication that led to Pimp C's overdose has been considered popular in the south for young people who want to get high. Rap artist Big Mo even called Houston "City of Syrup", for being known for recreational cough syrup consumption.

Jose Martinez, a DEA special agent, said that the cough syrup is only available by pescription, but that it's recreational use is widespread.

"It is not uncommon to see large quantities of the controlled substance being sold and transported," he said.

The medication found in Pimp C's hotel room carries a warning against use by those with sleep apnea.
