The event was originally a festival to celebrate worker's achievements and to promote a New Vision for the 21st Century. Mos Def and Pharcyde were also expected to perform however Employees of the International Union officials eventually had to come out and try and calm the crowd down. Once that did not work, the local police had no choice but to shut things down.
