Rapper Snoop Dogg Tells All

Snoop Dogg and family

My momma gave me the name. I used to love Peanuts and Charlie Brown -- Snoopy was my favorite cartoon character growing up. I watched so much, I started to look like him.

A lot of people like to fool you and say that you're not smart if you never went to college, but common sense rules over everything. That's what I learned from selling crack.

Love goes unappreciated a lot of times, but you still gotta keep giving it.

The first time I got high off marijuana was in the seventies, with one of my uncles. They had these little roaches on the table -- these part-way-smoked marijuana cigarettes -- and there was some Schlitz Malt Liquor Bull. I went in there and sipped the Schlitz, and my uncle asked me did I wanna hit that roach. And I was like, "Yeah." He put it on the roach clip for me and lit it up, and I hit that motherfucker. I was about eight or nine years old.

Weed: It makes me feel the way I need to feel.

Black News: Michael Vick Trying to get Paid when he gets out

Fallen football star Michael Vick is pitching a reality TV show to producers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Fallen football star Michael Vick is pitching a reality TV show to producers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Apparently, Vick, who is serving the remainder of a 23-month prison sentence for charges stemming from illegal dogfighting, has talked to producers about launching an unscripted documentary series beginning July 20, the day of his scheduled release from federal custody, and show him trying to "make amends for his past." And interest from TV execs is hot, according to the Reporter, which says that producers lined up to see the suspended baller in prison and “a few parties claim to have obtained rights to a Vick project.”

Earlier this month, attorneys for Vick told a judge that the former Atlanta Falcon quarterback has agreed to a "television documentary deal" that will pay him $600,000. However, Vick, who owes millions to creditors, is seeking much more, the Reporter says. As the Reporter notes, “If Vick's show finds a home, he wouldn't be the first celebrity to get help with legal fees from TV networks."

Bow wow and Omarion? Heart Throbs or Throbbing on One Another?

[A] source in JD's camp, who spoke only on the condition of anonymity, claims that the real cause for the split was that Bow Wow expressed to JD that his relationship with Omarion was more than simply musical after the two were caught engaged in a sexual activity. The source would not go into detail but said "He (Jermaine Dupri) was going nuts about it. These two were in a main room in the house doing all this. Me and two other assistants was with him (Jermaine Dupri) and we saw it going down and he sent us out of the room and was yelling and screaming at them". [...]

A producer who worked on the first Omarion-Bow Wow single released only a few months ago, confirms that, "what was going on with them in the back rooms and in the studio was more than just two dudes working on music. These dudes was feeling each other like a man and a woman."

Hip Hop: Some Suggest Rapper TI Got Off Easy on Prison Sentence

One thing is now certain: T.I. is going to prison. A federal judge today approved a negotiated plea for one year plus a day in federal prison for trying to buy machine guns and ammo from undercover agents in 2007. As part of the deal, the rapper was also sentenced to 1,500 hours of community service, a $100,000 fine, and one year of home confinement (much of which he has already served). T.I. could reduce his time behind bars to about 10 months with good behavior. He is scheduled to voluntarily report to prison some time after May 19.

But is he getting off too easy? Given that federal sentencing guidelines recommend that a person who pleads guilty to these charges should serve four years and nine months in prison, some Atlanta defense attorneys have suggested that the megastar was able to use his celebrity to reduce the punishment. "This has been an unusual plea from the very beginning," says Page Pate, a criminal defense attorney with the Atlanta firm Pate & Brody and former chairman of the Criminal Law Section of the Atlanta Bar Association. "But they [apparently] felt he was in the unique position because of the things he could do with his celebrity that other people couldn't do. Is it right or wrong? I won’t get into that. But is it fair? No. Joe Smith isn’t going to get this deal."

But David E. Nahmias, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, who approved the deal,

Jamie Foxx on Miley Cirus: “The little White Bitch”

Jamie Foxx Might be in trouuuuuble!

The 41-year-old’s foul outburst was prompted by a caller to the show who brought up a month-old story in which Cyrus pledged to “ruin” Radiohead after the rockers rejected a request to meet with the Disney star backstage at the Grammys.

“Who is Miley Cyrus?” an incredulous Foxx, who has a teenage daughter of his own, said. “The one with all the gums? She gotta get a gum transplant…S–t.”

The insults didn’t stop there. Or get less personal.

“She’s gonna ruin Radiohead’s career? The same Radiohead that gets paid a million dollars just to sample their songs?

“Make a sex tape and grow up,” he continued. “Get like Britney Spears and do some heroin. Do like Lindsay Lohan and start seeing a lesbian and get some crack in your pipe. Catch chlamydia on a bicycle seat.

“That’s what I want.” E Online

Miley’s dad, Billy Ray, is particularly upset, according to the source.

“He thinks Jamie was out of line and didn’t find any humor in it,” the source told me this afternoon. “He doesn’t understand why he would do that to Miley, especially since he has teenage daughter himself.” E Online

Foxx noted to Jay Leno that he was doing a routine, saying: “Sometimes as comedians, you know, we go a little too far.”

When MTV News had the chance to listen to Rick Ross' Deeper Than Rap on Monday, two things stood out to us immediately about the much-discussed track"Valley of Death": It does not feature Lil Wayne as advertised, at least not on the album, which is due out on April 21. But Ross does speak briefly on his controversial stint as a prison guard.

"N---a never had a gun and badge," he stresses, dismissing the word that he was indeed an officer of the law. "Can't criticize n---as trying to get a job."

Later he implies that while he was working as a corrections officer, he was also on the streets, declaring that he had "two jobs."

"I'll C.O. so we could bow our head and pray over the meatloaf," Ross rhymes. "You can label me the biggest label in the game."

How Lil Wayne Almost Killed Himself

CHRIS GRANGER / THE TIMES-PICAYUNERobert Hoobler, a former New Orleans Police officer, stands in front of the apartment where Grammy-winning musician Lil' Wayne once lived in the Hollygrove area of New Orleans. It is the same home where Hoobler carried out a bloodied Lil' Wayne after he was shot when he was 12 years old. Hoobler saved Lil' Wayne's life by driving him to a nearby hospital.

Lil Wayne never would have made it had it not been for big Robert Hoobler.

AP PHOTONew Orleans native rapper Lil Wayne.

The celebrated New Orleans rapper would have bled to death on the floor of his mother's Hollygrove apartment the afternoon of Nov. 11, 1994, at just 12 years old, after accidentally shooting himself in the chest while playing with a 9 mm handgun.

If not for Hoobler, the New Orleans police officer who cradled the bleeding boy in the back of a squad car that day on the way to the hospital, the Grammy-winning superstar would never have made the cover of the current issue of Rolling Stone.

The shooting, part of the Lil Wayne lore, has been chronicled before, but not its details, nor the tale of the man who saved his life: a 6-foot, 7-inch, 330-pound officer who responded to the shooting while off-duty, as was his habit.

Remember the Bald Chick? More Pictures

We talked about Cassie’s craziness earlier, but you just can’t get enough of her bald look.  On one hand, half of her still looks cute.  On the other hand, you just want to find her a nice half a weave and strap it onto her face.  I’ll let you decide.

Bow Wow’s Latest – See For Yourself

I’m not feeling Bow Wow’s Sunshine, but I’ll let you judge for yourself.  He seems to be coming off like a shorter, younger, less talented and broker version of TI (remember that song “You can have it all”?  Don’t that sound like “You can have whatever you like?”).  Also, the video seems a bit on the low budget side, since Bow Wow shoots the whole damn video from his trailer (WTF?).

Remember MC Eiht? This Groupie Does

Remember MC Eiht?  He’s the dude from Compton’s Most Wanted who also starred in the movie Menace 2 Society about 100 years ago.  Well, apparently his girlfriend is putting him on blast for not being able to get it up during sex.  Here is what she had to say:

“[MC] Eiht has a problem. With his penis – it doesn’t work. He can’t get it up for some reason.
He said it’s because he f*cked so many b*tches back in the day, when he really had it going on. You know how n*ggas got it going on, they got all this money, they rappers, they f*ck 2 and three b*tches a day.
Well apparently that makes your d*ck stop working, ‘cause that’s what happened to [MC] Eiht.”

But then again, maybe she is putting it on him that she can’t get him excited enough to want to do it!  Anyway, if you want to find out why people used to pay attention to this dude back in the day, click on the link below to watch one of his videos.

Rick Ross Gets a Prank Call About 50 Cent

50 Cent vs. Rick Ross

The beef between 50 Cent and Rick Ross has gotten a bit more interesting, but this time the G-Unit leader is not the one firing shots.

Ross revealed in a video interview with TorchisNy.com that Nelson Gomez, a man claiming to be a G-Unit employee, contacted him and offered him a lump sum to end his rap beef with 50 Cent.

“Nelson Gomez offered me a sum of money to fall back,” Ross claims in the video. “I told him, “Make it a half a million and I’ll chill on Curly [50 Cent]. But that don’t go for Yayo and the other guy. I’mma still see them. Ya’ll got to pay separate.’”

Kanye West Appears on South Park

Kanye West appeared on the cartoon “Southpark”.  Here is what he had to say:

“SOUTH PARK MURDERED ME LAST NIGHT AND IT’S PRETTY FUNNY. IT HURTS MY FEELINGS BUT WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM SOUTH PARK! I ACTUALLY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON MY EGO THOUGH. HAVING THE CRAZY EGO IS PLAYED OUT AT THIS POINT IN MY LIFE AND CAREER. I USE TO USE IT TO BUILD UP MY ESTEEM WHEN NOBODY BELIEVED IN ME. NOW THAT PEOPLE DO BELIEVE AND SUPPORT MY MUSIC AND PRODUCTS THE BEST RESPONSE IS THANK YOU INSTEAD OF “I TOLD YOU SO!!!” IT’S COOL TO TALK SHIT WHEN YOU’RE RAPPING BUT NOT IN REAL LIFE. WHEN YOU MEET LITTLE WAYNE IN PERSON HE’S THE NICEST GUY FOR EXAMPLE. I JUST WANNA BE A DOPER PERSON WHICH STARTS WITH ME NOT ALWAYS TELLING PEOPLE HOW DOPE I THINK I AM. I NEED TO JUST GET PAST MYSELF. DROP THE BRAVADO AND JUST MAKE DOPE PRODUCT. EVERYTHING IS NOT THAT SERIOUS. AS LONG AS PEOPLE THINK I ACT LIKE A BITCH THIS TYPE OF SHIT WILL HAPPEN TO ME. I GOT A LONG ROAD AHEAD OF ME TO MAKE PEOPLE BELIEVE I’M NOT ACTUALLY A HUGE DOUCHE BUT I’M UP FOR THE CHALLENGE. I’M SURE THE WRITERS AT SOUTH PARK ARE REALLY NICE PEOPLE IN REAL LIFE. THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO DRAW MY CREW. THAT WAS PRETTY FUNNY ALSO!! I’M SURE THERE’S GRAMMATICAL ERRORS IN THIS… THAT’S HOW YOU KNOW IT’S ME!”

Hip Hop News: Dr Dre, Eminem and 50 Cent Hang Out in Vegas

Eminem, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent are legendary rappers in their own right, yet the three icons recently joined forces during a recording session in the studio at the Palms.

The resort’s owner, George Maloof, said the trio had the loudest recording sessions the casino has ever heard.

“I think it’s the only time that we’ve had anybody in our studio where you could actually hear the sound through the walls,” he said.

“The room … is four rooms in one,” he explained. “It’s, like, impossible to hear through the walls – except for those guys.”

A number of the resort’s musically-inclined A-list guests have used the studio in the past. Usher used it to the lay down a few tracks during his last visit – yet no sound escaped when the R&B star used it.

Maloof credited Eminem, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent’s high volume to the enhanced equipment the rappers imported for the 3-week-long project.

Michael Vick’s Bankruptcy Plan Rejected

But after more than three hours of testimony in which Vick laid out what he called his "exit strategy," U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Frank J. Santoro rejected it. Santoro told Vick to draft a new Chapter 11 plan, one with a bit more certainty.

Santoro said there is no guarantee the league will have the 28-year-old player back, and suggested he start on a new plan by considering liquidating one or both of his Virginia homes and three cars he had planned to keep.

AutumnJones Introduces Upcoming Rapper Joe Stu

Hello and how are you feeling today?
I’m great and it’s good to be alive!!!

Explain to people who may not know who Joe Stu is, Who You are?
Joe Stu is a blue-collar artist. I represent the working class nine to fivers who are striving for something better.

You’re originally from New York, You moved down to Atlanta, GA to attend college. Was music also in the plans then?
In a sense. It wasn’t the typical rapper going down to Atlanta to blow up. I really went to get an education. I didn’t get truly serious until I was already in school. I started to meet other people who were like minded, from all over the country, I also started seeing cats who were really doing it up and making moves in the industry, that’s when it clicked that I could make it happen. Before then as Biggie stated “It was all a dream!”

How long have you been rapping and how did you come up with the name Joe Stu?
I’ve been writing since I was around 12. Joe Stu is just my government name shortened. Joseph Stewart. I used to have all these colorful names in the beginning, but you always run the risk of someone else having the same name so I just stuck with the one I was given. Plus it’s a dedication of sorts to my parents who are no longer here.

What inspires you musically?
There are a whole host of things that inspire me. Hearing good music is always inspirational, or sometimes it can be a good film. More than likely life and the situations that come along with it push me to write. I’ve made a TON of mistakes in life, so I figure I can make good use of them by making songs about them.

My favorite songs that I’ve heard are "Addiction" & "Natural Mystic"? What are your favorites and Why?
I got a few favorites on this new mix tape. “Addiction” is one of them because it’s a true struggle. Plus it came to me pretty easy, there was nothing forced about that song. Hopefully by the time this interview is out I’ll have that under controlJ. Another favorite was “Crack”. I approached that song like it was a report. I put a lot of facts and research into that one.

As an up and coming rapper, how do you look at the music industry right now seeing and hearing a lot of things that's taking place?
I love the fact that music is so readily available. It’s better for the fans, and even though there’s a lot of music out there it’s pressure on the artist to stand out that much more. If you’re an independent artist, the lane is wide open you just have to grind hard as hell to make your mark. I’m all for that grind especially since the benefits you reap are good. With a major label route, there’s so much at stake that you have to have a formula that equals large sales. The label has to make sure that there’s a hit. As far as the quality, that’s always questionable. It seems like the masses want dumbed down music, but I whole-heartedly believe that there’s an audience for progressive mature hip-hop.

I know you released a mix tape with DJ Ill Will, But when will the album be released?
I have a plan that I’m executing with my team. The focus of that plan is to build enough buzz so that people actually want the album. So many times artist drop an album and no one either knows or cared about it. On the other hand I don’t want to wait too long. It’s all about when the timing is right.

Listening to your music lyrically I can hear that you’re a New Yorker because you guys are know for lyrics. But what are some things that were added to you music being in Atlanta "Have fun type scene in music”?
Being in Atlanta taught me to be a songwriter. There’s always a part of me that wants to go for 1000 bars, but I had to admit to myself that your not reaching people as much through that. There’s an art to songwriting that I had to submit to, and I still am. There’s more to a song than just the verse. Now a days being from NY is more of a disadvantage. There’s the automatic assumption that your arrogant, or you talk a certain way, etc. I believe we kind of brought that on ourselves by being real exclusive and ignoring other scenes. Don’t get me wrong I love my city. A lot of times I get “you don’t seem like you’re from NY”, but I take that as “oh your not real arrogant.”

Your also a tattoo artist, How do you tie that into your music?
Right now it’s how I pay for studio time. Though being a visual artist in general has helped me be more vivid with my words. My description of stuff becomes more visual. Plus you can check out my work on the cover art for the mix tape.

What can fans old and new expect to see from Joe Stu in this coming year?
More product!! I’m aiming to be one of the most consistent artist to come around. So look for more mix tapes, songs and product from Joe Stu

What is something that you want people to know about you that they may not know?
I’m a human being. A lot of artist these days try to sell a real hyped up image. I’m one of the few whom people can relate to and still give them something to escape to.

Do you have any up coming show, where people can check you out at?
I gotta show with Mojo Swagger April 3rd at the Bench.

Is there anything else you'd like to say?
Shouts out to MoBetta, Najja, Mudnoc, Jay Force, D.R.U.G.S., W.E.T. Productions and everybody that helped put this mix tape together.
