Jeezy Will Debut New Song at Inauguration Celebration

Young Jeezy according to reports will debut a new track during a Jan. 18 performance at Washington D.C. night club Love to celebrate the inauguration of Barack Obama. The track was created exclusively for the event's sponsor, Belvedere Vodka, as part of a new deal between the rapper and the liquor brand. The evening will be hosted by Akon and feature a separate performance by rapper T.I. The event takes place from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Kanye, Akon and T-pain Come Together to Raise Money For The Negro Leagues

According to Billboard Kanye West, T-Pain and Akon will help in rasing money for the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. They will appear on "True to the Game," which is a CD of hip hop and R&B songs due Oct. 21. A portion of the proceeds will help fund a $15 million education and research center within the historical landmark building where the Negro Leagues were established in 1920. The museum is located in Kansas City.

David Banner and Others To Remake Qunicy Jones Hits

David Banner recently told Billboard.com, that he and several other rappers are planning on putting their own spin on hits from super producer Quincy Jones. "Quincy Jones got me, Akon, Pharrell Williams and T-Pain and allowed us to choose and remake our favorite songs," says Banner of the project, "I chose 'Give Me the Night' by George Benson with Jamie Foxx singing it." A date for which has yet to be set.

Nelly, Akon & Pharrell In A Group Together

Akon and Nelly have let the cat out the bag letting the world know about their plan to form a group along with Pharell.

Akon: “Me and Nelly used to bump into each other off and on and it had nothing to do with music. We were always looking for the opportunity to work together,” Akon said. “There was a thing that Nelly was coming up with that had me, him and Pharrell possibly doing an album together. We just wanted to find something we could do together.”

Nelly:“Right now it’s just a concept,” Nelly responded when questioned about the trio working together. “I just got the idea because I love groups like Bell Biv Devoe. When they got a chance to come together. When LSG (Gerald Levert, Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill) did it. Nobody has really done it on the Hip Hop level. Nobody has put egos aside and said ‘You know what? Let’s do something that would be crazy! We don’t have that (moment in time) and I feel like we’re missing that something special.”

Akon Speaks About the Smoking Gun Article

Akon decided to wait til the hype died down since the smoking gun reported that his past criminal history was made up. Akon recently spoke with MTV and he had this to say...

"We're doing so many positive things," he continued. "To go back and focus and put energy on negative things like that, to try to discredit an artist, it makes no sense to me. If there was a motive for it, it would be worth entertaining. I'd rather keep it the way it is and leave the article out there. It only helps me. It's not something I was trying to glorify or turn back to. It was something I was trying to forget. Actually, it worked out for me in a positive way."

Akon A Country Singer

Akon told MTV Tuesday that he plans to launch a new career in country music, "I was trying to shock the world with that. I've been doing some writing and producing for some country artists but I've been going under and alias, so no one knows I'm doing it. Depending on those records, how well they do, I might just come out with one (album)... I just want to see if I can conquer this side of things." Good Luck with that.

Akon Criminal Past All Fabricated

Akon's stories about his so-called criminal past may have been fabricated. Since Akon debut in 2004 he's claimed to have served 4 1/2 years in prison for felonies. However words out that he was convicted for one felony, gun possession, which ended in a guilty plea and three years probation. It also turns out he was arrested for stealing A BMW, Akon was detained in Atlanta for several months before prosecutors dropped all charges against him.
